Since childhood, Takahiro Ashiya always had a strong sixth sense, as well as the ability to use psychic powers, sometimes unconsciously. After moving to Tokyo with dreams of living an ordinary life, he tried his best to hide and control these powers but things didn’t go as planned. Now the death of his mother is going to be the final blow to his efforts in pursuing a normal life.

Submitter Statement

With total freedom in terms of creation, I did my best to produce a film that is about the struggles we have sometimes faced when it comes to keeping in mind where we come from, and what we can do to improve ourselves and the world. For my first feature film, I was blessed to have a nice crew, an exceptional music composer, a legendary actor who supported the project, and talented artists who all entrusted me with the ability to make a good film. As a movie lover myself, I would have never released a film that I didn’t like. So here you are. Hopefully you will like it too.

Born in Paris in 1980, Julien Uzan decides to move to Tokyo in his early twenties. Working first as a French/English teacher, then as a freelance interpreter from 2015, his job gave him the opportunity to work with all major TV stations in Tokyo, including for a program in which Beat Takeshi was the anchor. He ended up working for him on a weekly basis during 4 years from 2018, until Takeshi san decided to refocus on film production with “Kubi” and left the show in March 2022. After releasing two Japanese short movies as writer (writing all the dialogues in Japanese) producer and editor on Prime Video in June 2022, he decides to write, produce, edit and this time direct his first feature film. He talked about the project to Beat Takeshi who after reading the script decides to support him by doing a small cameo in it. With the desire to put all his soul in the project, and with almost all his savings, he starts filming ‘In Your Blood: Hoki Naiden’ in June 2022 and finishes its editing in March 2024. Now he will be put to the test, and hopefully, offer an enjoyable moment to those who will watch his first feature film.
