When acclaimed actress Adele Swan (Illse Roos) discovers that her young lover has squandered all her savings and is sleeping with a millennial, she knows it’s showtime! Adele has no choice but to put on the performance of a lifetime to make everyone believe she is still worth it. A trusted patron, George, gives her a chance to recover her debts if she will agree to be the face of his campaign. A competition on a luxury cruise to sell the exclusive units of the Silvertree Retirement Estate.

It is a significant blow to Adele’s ego who must partake in the Survivor for Seniors competition aboard the cruise-ship. Surprisingly she is teamed up with an old school friend, Winnifred, who opens the door to Adele’s past.

Submitter Statement

What attracted me to the story was the group of women on cruise ship, far away from their usual lives where they can re-imagine themselves and leave the past behind. The delightful characters in the script each grow and change in a relatable way. I wanted to make a fun and entertaining film that can be enjoyed by women from diverse backgrounds. The setting of a cruise ship is something new for local films and shooting onboard the MSC Sinfonia was a real challenge and an adventure. The film celebrates women growing older, their fragility and their strength. It's a film about friendship, and the lead character, Adele transforms from the usual #lovemyselfie-celebrity to someone prepared to stick her neck out for her friends.

Lika Berning is a South African actress, she has recently directed her first theatrical feature #Lovemyselfie. She has also made short films and a documentary feature.
