Submitter Statement

Right before Atlanta shut down due to the pandemic, my team consisting of a 20-person crew, 10 person cast, and many extras worked relentlessly to tell these incredible stories. The post-production of the short films was completed virtually. We shot five short films, including 'The Perfect Date' in three production days in Atlanta collaborating with Craig Miller Productions. From Duluth, to Marietta and Vinings, we used several locations and and opportunities to run this production smoothly. Sonia Bajaj, born and raised in Mumbai, India, is a filmmaker based in Los Angeles, California. After completing her schooling in Mumbai, Sonia pursued bachelor’s degree in one of India’s premier media and communications colleges - Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication, a constituent of Symbiosis International University (SIU), Pune. She earned a degree in Audio and Visual Production with honors. Bajaj then moved to the United States in 2013 and went on to earn a Master’s degree in Filmmaking from New York Film Academy, graduating with honors. Bajaj founded her own production company, Western Walk Productions. She has directed and produced several short-films in Atlanta, Los Angeles and New York City, which have been screened at multiple film festivals across USA and globally, bringing her numerous accolades. Besides being engaged in the development of Rose, Bajaj also works in the programming team at Downtown Los Angeles Film Festival, where she is the curator for the women in film series and student film series. From a very early age, Sonia realized she wanted to narrate stories about women to not only highlight women’s issues but also encourage more women oriented films to be made in the film industry.
